This fall, I am opening a small number of informal one-on-one conversation slots. After living in several countries, many of my friends, former classmates, colleagues, and others in my broader network are now scattered across places and time zones. Social media lets us stay vaguely aware of one another’s lives, but it rarely creates space to actually talk.
Now that the PhD marathon is over, I want to disrupt my routine, step outside my usual bubble, reconnect with people I have lost touch with, and meet people whose paths might not otherwise cross mine.
These conversations are open to old friends and new connections alike. We can talk about research, fieldwork, graduate school, academic and nonacademic careers, possible collaborations, politics, or simply catch up. I am sure there is also plenty I can learn from you. No preparation or professional agenda is required.
